Lucy Mission

The Lucy Mission is a NASA space exploration project aimed at studying the Trojan asteroids, which are a group of ancient celestial bodies located in orbit around the Sun at the same distance as Jupiter. Named after the fossilized human ancestor “Lucy,” the mission seeks to enhance our understanding of the origins of the solar system and the role these asteroids played in its formation. The Lucy spacecraft is designed to visit several different Trojan asteroids and is equipped with a suite of scientific instruments to analyze their composition, surface features, and other characteristics. By exploring these remnants from the early solar system, Lucy aims to provide valuable insights into planetary formation and evolution.
