Parker Solar Probe

The Parker Solar Probe is a NASA space mission designed to study the Sun’s outer atmosphere, known as the corona. Launched on August 12, 2018, the probe’s primary objective is to gather data about solar activity and its effects on the solar system. It is named after Dr. Eugene Parker, an astrophysicist who proposed the existence of the solar wind. The spacecraft will approach the Sun closer than any previous mission, providing unprecedented insights into solar physics, including the dynamics of solar winds, solar magnetic fields, and the processes that contribute to solar phenomena such as coronal mass ejections. Its findings aim to enhance our understanding of the Sun’s impact on space weather and its influence on Earth.
